This page is dedicated to my dad and his tireless efforts. A man
of endless energy and talent.
He is a man of quiet and sensible humor. I must admit though it took some coaxing to get him to make the pose. This picture reminds me of a saying he would make to me almost every Saturday morning. "Hey buster you going to get out of bed? Or ya gunna sleep your life away?" Well you guessed it he likes to get up early. I would often get up much later to find him in his shop working on something... |

| As I promised I said I would show more my dad's efforts on the replica of the 1913 Mercer Raceabout. My dad has always held a certain fascination with things that go, old cars in particular. As shown below is a picture of the completed car. Pictured with my dad is my sister Cheryl and her daughter Chasity. The car is powered by a 5 horsepower Tecumseh | |

engine. He custom made the rims using a steel hub and solid steel spokes. Using a conventional bicycle tires and outer rim he fitted the inner hub and spoke assembly and covered the wheel with wood laminates. This gave the wheels a rustic wood spoke look with the practical durability of steel. Other than a garden tractor rear end all other components were hand fabricated. Needless to say the car has been a real hit with the grandkids. |
| Shown below on the left is the front view of the underlying frame. On the right is the review. Notice the drive belt that travels horizontally from the front to the rear. | |

| Finally a view of the dash detail. On the right are the two love birds on their maiden voyage around the farm. Regrettably mom's collie, Pepper, doesn't take to modern modes of transportation and is often giving to fits of continuous barking. | |

| And finally I could not let this page end on such a serious note without at least a little humor. For my dad his often said " what a predicament" face, and for my mom's often untimely ( for me anyway) "boobert" face (as she often calls me). | |
